Obituary for CORTEZ

CORTEZ, ARNOLD J. Born August 31, 1942, passed away from this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early hours of December 3, 2013, at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Margo Cortez, and his mother Elizabeth. A native of Albuquerque, Arnold graduated from Valley High School in 1960 where he wrote a sports column for the Valley High School Legend newspaper. He went on to become a sportswriter for the Albuquerque Journal in the 1960s. He was an avid photographer in his early years and enjoyed several other hobbies throughout his life. Arnold had several careers ranging from law enforcement to sales to hotel security and management, but he will be most remembered as a loving, devoted husband and as a kind and wonderful father and grandfather. Arnold is survived by his ever-cherished wife ("My Honey") Donna Cortez, sister-in-law Crystal Stuck, daughter Bernadette Cortez, daughter Yvette Hickman and her husband Roy, son Paul Cortez and his wife Michelle, son William Hoskovec and his wife Shannon, grandchildren Jennifer and Carlos Rodriguez, Erik Hickman, Mar'lyna Bibb-Hoskovec, Alexander and Isabella Cortez, Khyren, Lliam, and Culbert Hoskovec, and great-grandchildren Anistacia Sanchez, Isaiah and Maria Rodriguez, and Olivia Hickman. He loved, and was loved, greatly, and he will be deeply missed. Memorial services will be held at the Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church located at 1801 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico on Monday December 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
