ZEIGLER, JOHN M. John M. Zeigler, born in Duncan, OK on December 14, 1922, passed away October 25, 2013 just short of 91 good years. John was a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in 1943. After serving in the Merchant Navy as a Chief Engineer during WWII, he married his lifelong partner of 62 years, Ormajane Kirkpatrick of Rushville, IN. Leaving the Merchant Fleet after marriage, he had a long and fruitful career as an industrial engineer retiring from Abbott Laboratories as Director of Engineering Operations from the Hospital Products Division in 1984. He and his wife spent the majority of their golden years in Ashville, NC. He is survived by his sons, Russell and wife Maddie of Albuquerque and John M. Zeigler IV and wife Martha of Weaverville, NC; granddaughter Stacy Zeigler and her son Travis Russell Terrill of Westcliff, CO, grandson Sean Zeigler, PhD and wife Dr. Nora Malaisrie of Bethesda, MD; granddaughter Shannon Zeigler, JD of Washington, D.C., grandson Shane Zeigler of New York, NY, grandson Police Officer John M. Zeigler V of Weaverville, NC, and grandson Captain Paul Zeigler, USAF of Washington, D.C. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Cache Cemetery, Cache, OK. Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home of Lawton, OK will be handling the graveside services. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
