BARCHUS, WILLIAM M. William "Bill" Barchus, age 83, died peacefully at home on October 5, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Angie; daughters Pat Barchus, Cindy Barchus and husband Dale Green; his granddaughters Jennifer Maine and husband Lester Maine, Catherine Green and husband Jerome Johnson; and great-grandchildren Leannna Marie, Logan William and Elizabeth Ann. He also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his children Mark Stephen and Kathy Lynn. Bill was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Cold War. As an Atomic Veteran he viewed many above ground nuclear tests in the Pacific and at the Nevada Proving Grounds. He began his military career as a paratrooper in the US Army, and served his country for 22 years. After retiring, Bill worked at Santa Fe Tool Co. for more than 40 years. He was quite a colorful character, and one of his favorite things was being an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, never missing a game. No matter the outcome, there was "always next year", he said. Bill will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
