Obituary for MARTINEZ

MARTINEZ, FLOYD H. Age 72, passed away on August, 14, 2013. He was born to the late Leonor Maestas and Adrian J. Martinez, in Espanola, New Mexico and raised in Albuquerque. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived in Arizona for greater than twenty years before settling in Corte Madera, CA, over a year ago with his wife, Rose. He attended Valley High School, the University of New Mexico and obtained his Ph.D. in Psychology from Texas Tech University. He was a nationally recognized expert in the field of community mental health and the mental health treatment of Hispanics. He is a published writer and his first novel, Spirits of the High Mesa, received the 1998 "honor books" award from the American Library Association. He had a passion for the outdoors, southwest history, writing, college sports and March Madness! Floyd remains in the hearts of his loving wife Rose Garduno; his daughters Kimberly Martinez and Ariana Gallegos; son, Dominic Martinez; step-daughters Tiffany Massa, Bonni Mahon and spouse, Ken; grandchildren Indiana Laine, Stefano Fleurici and Kieran Mahon; his siblings Dolores Montoya and spouse Robert; Adrian Martinez, Jr. and spouse Ruth; Cordelia Arellano and spouse Delfino; John Martinez and spouse Naomi; Lydia Maldonado and spouse Tom and their families. A celebration of Floyd's life will be held at the San Francisco Theological Seminary, Stewart Chapel, 105 Seminary Road, San Anselmo, CA 94960 on Saturday, September 7th, 1:00PM.
