WALSTON, MARY MARONEY March 29, 1942 - June 3, 2013 Mary Walston, age 71, passed away on June 3rd after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer and the day after her 49th wedding anniversary. Born in Summit, NJ, she was the daughter of Dr. James H. Maroney and Mary F. Maroney. Mary attended high school in Summit, NJ, graduated with a degree in psychology from Colorado College and completed a teaching credential from U.C. Berkeley. She taught grade school in CA and in Albuquerque, was active in parent teacher associations where she helped organize numerous school science fairs. She would go on to a 25 year career teaching figure skating and ice dance in Albuquerque. Beyond skating, she enjoyed sailing, skiing and quilting. She is survived by her husband Robert; son Sean; daughter Sharon; and granddaughter Elizabeth. The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers and especially the New Mexico Cancer Center and Presbyterian Hospice. A memorial and reception are being planned for mid September. Date and time will be announced.
