VERDELL, JAMES CRAIG age 58, was a current resident of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, New Mexico, but previously of Camden, New Jersey, went home to The Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth and Janet; mother, Rita Verdell; brother Benjamin (Buddy) Verdell; sisters Barbara Fussell and Lenora Givens; nephew and legal custodian Aaron J. Givens Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and much loved family members in The Camden, New Jersey area. James was preceded in death by his father, Cleo Osee (Sonny) Verdell, his son, James Jr., his brothers, Arnett, Lawrence, Jamal and Scottie. He was a Vietnam Veteran (Marines) and loved his country. James spent his last few years, enjoying life by singing Karaoke at Slate Street Bar and Grill, Desert Greens and Applebees. He loved to sing and compose and had a true passion for it. He truly loved what he did and loved all the special people he has met over the years. He would proudly say he was Frank Sinatra's biggest fan. The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration, medical and social work department for their dedicated work, St. Theresa rehab center, Assisted Living Home Sandia Springs and the Rio Transit Bus line for always being there when he needed them. A Memorial Service will be later this month at a National Cemetery in The South Jersey area. James will receive full military honors and a tombstone at his memorial service.
