Obituary for FANNING-GRUBE

FANNING-GRUBE, EILEEN Eileen passed away peacefully after a long illness at the age of 74; her two daughters and sister were with her at that time. She was in the wonderful care of Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona. Eileen was born on December 19, 1938 to James J. and Elizabeth B. Fanning in Weehawken, NJ. She grew up in Albuquerque, NM where she graduated from St Mary's Catholic High School in 1957. Eileen married Fred Grube and had three children, Christina Abel, husband Scott; Mark Grube; and Catherine Slack, husband Thom. Eileen, affectionately known as "Bummer" to her grandchildren, went on to nurture and help raise other children in the capacity of nanny. She will be remembered for her loving and compassionate nature, her great sense of humor and strong Irish spirit. Eileen is survived by her daughters Christine and Catherine; grandchildren Elizabeth Shea, husband Ryan; Vincent Andreaccio, Christopher Woods, Jordan Andreaccio, Lauren Slack and Sara Slack; great-grandchildren, Kali Woods and Tommy Shea: brothers James J. Fanning, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; John Mark Fanning and wife Emilie of Greensboro, NC; sister Elizabeth DeRochie of Albuquerque, NM. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Fred Grube; son, Mark Grube; her parents, James J. and Elizabeth B. Fanning; sisters, Mary Jane Fanning and Patricia A. Wessel; brothers, Thomas A. Fanning and Capt. Martin V. Fanning. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. Father Johnny Lee Chavez officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Hospice of your choice.
