Obituary for SCHIESS

SCHIESS, CHARLES WILLIAM (RED) died on Sunday, April 28, 2013, after a bout with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Angela Garrett (Andy) Schiess; and six children - Judith Avila, Gary Schiess, Edward McLaughlin, Nancy Schiess, Peter Schiess, and Caryl (Kai) Colombo. He also leaves his brother, Richard Schiess; and 12 grandchildren. Charles was born on February 9, 1923 in New York City. He grew up in Harrison, New York and graduated from Syracuse University. A WWII veteran, he fought with the Army as a lieutenant in the Pacific War. After the war, he completed college and married Angela, his college sweetheart. They moved to Thornwood, New York, and Charles worked as an accountant, becoming the chief financial officer of an advertising agency in New York City at the age of 24. He continued his career in finance until 1986, when he retired to Albuquerque, NM. He has spent many happy summers at Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire, and was planning a trip there at the time of his death. A memorial will be scheduled in New Hampshire.
