GYULAI, WAYNE passed away on April 15, 2013 from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was born in 1944 in Detroit, Michigan and worked for the automotive industry while receiving his Master's degree from Wayne State University. He ventured to New Mexico in 1973 and lived in Truchas for two years. In 1975, he was hired by Governor Bruce King to work in the State Planning Office where he held the position of Director of the Rural Development Bureau. During the Anaya Administration, he worked in the Rural Development Economic Response Council Office. He also worked in other state offices including the Department of Finance and Administration working with the 911 system for the state, the Highway and Transportation Department (NMDOT) in the State Traffic Safety Bureau, and with the State Corporation Commission. He is survived by his Michigan-Canadian family including his sister Gayle Huszti; nephew John Huszti; Colorado cousin Shirley Smith; second cousin Greg Smith; and numerous other relatives and friends. In New Mexico he will be missed by his feline companion Newman; friends Fred and Beverly Friedman, Danielle and Lee Wilson, Ralph and Delores Prather, Muiriel Kirchmeier; high school friends Don Orie, Rick Kane, and many other friends.
