TORRES, ANASTACIO B. "TACHO" age 86, of Albuquerque, passed away Easter Sunday March 31, 2013 at his home. Tacho was born on January 15, 1927 in Las Palomas, NM to the late Ismael and Luisa Torres. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. In 1982 after 35 years, Tacho retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His family was always a priority for him and to make sure they were never wanting for anything, he worked various part-time jobs including an election pollster during public elections, Sears, the New Mexico State Fair Police, the American Legion Post 99 Bingo, as well as pumping gas at a neighborhood gas station. One time he even owned his own tree cutting business. He was an usher and served on the bereavement committee at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Tacho was a lifetime member of the DAV and a former member of the American Legion Post 99 where he served as Sergeant at Arms. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending summers in Mora. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Lucy Torres on May 28, 2011; daughter Maria Dominguez; two brothers Alberto and Crespin Torres. He is survived by his son Orlando L. Torres; daughters Margie Torres-Nunez and husband Joseph Tenorio; Louise Atencio and husband Charlie; grandchildren Valerie, Charlie "CJ", Bobby, Catherine, Michael, Olivia, Ricardo, Faith, Jennifer, Jolene and Margaret; great-grandchildren Jameson, Azalea, Emma, Joshua, Jazmin, Matthew, Joseph, Danny Joe, Danielle, Tiffany, Richelle, and Ezekiel; great-great-granddaughter Adalia; brother Ismael Torres; sisters Melda Garrison, Teresa Archuleta, Carolina Pena, Viola Archuleta and Mary Ellen Carrillo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Rosary service will be recited at 8:00pm on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd, NW. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Friday April 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie "CJ" Atencio, Bobby Nunez, Catherine Atencio, Michael Torres, Albert Torres and Patrick Torres. Honorary Pallbearers are Ricardo Torres-Tenorio and Jameson Torres.
