Obituary for STEVENS

STEVENS, ALLEN LEE passed away in the early morning hours of March 5, 2013. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Lee Stevens of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves behind his children Anna Walker, Brian Stevens, Mark Stevens all of North Charleston, South Carolina, and Heather Greene of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren ranging in age from 26 years to 11 years. He also leaves behind two sisters Carol Reel of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Martha Lewis of Pace, Florida and a brother Robert Stevens of Albuquerque, New Mexico. As well as close family friends Zeke and Lisa Ybarra and Ron and Carol Peterson. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his eldest brother George Stevens Jr. Lee Stevens was born on January 3, 1940 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In June 1957 after graduating from Albuquerque High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served until June 1964 when he was honorably discharged. In November 1964 he met Mary Lee Morris, the woman that would eventually become his wife. He and Mary were married until her death in August 2009. After retiring from a long career in heavy equipment repair, Lee served NAMI in several capacities and was honored for his work by Governor Susana Martinez on November 11, 2011 for this tireless work. During his time here he touched so many lives and his loss will be felt deeply by people too numerous to list. Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Services will be held March 9th at the LDS Chapel at 7100 Woodmount Avenue Albuquerque, NM 87114. Visitation begins at 11:00 am with funeral service to follow at 12:30pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to NAMI New Mexico in his name.
