HOUGHTELING, JOAN BEVERLY Age 74, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. She is survived by husband of 57 years, Scott R. Houghteling; her children, Kimberly Bevels and husband, David, Scott R. Houghteling and wife, Mary, Wendy Sandstrom and husband, Phil, and daughter, Jodi Roy and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Stefanie Pick and husband, David, Casey Sadler and husband, Donnie, Scott R. Houghteling, Alicia Wayman and husband, Keith, and Rebecca Burge and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Averi Pick, Laney Pick, Sydney Sadler, Olivia Sadler, Gracelynn Burge and baby brother Burge on the way; sister, Judy McCullough and husband, Jack; brother, James A. Draffen and wife, Carol; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joan was preceded in death by her father, James A. Draffen; mother, Irma Draffen; and granddaughter, Kari Bevels. Joan will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Among her favorite hobbies Joan enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. She loved to knit and crochet, and made a great dinner of Spaghetti and meatballs. Joan will always be remembered for her vibrant laugh and beautiful singing voice. In her youth she was a member of a quartet that would sing for school assemblies, at the senior center, and even had local TV appearances in upstate New York. Her greatest love was always her family. She devoted her life to the care of her husband, children, grandchildren and her faith in the Lord. A memorial service for Joan will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
