Obituary for SLEASE

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 24, 2013

SLEASE, ROSE ANNE (MCBURNEY) age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, after a brief illness. Anne had a full life that she shared with many. Anne loved children and animals. She fostered many children with special needs during her lifetime and then cared for hundreds of young children in her home day care. Her home was always bustling with young children and she thrived on it. They loved her, and as they graduated, married and had children of their own, they always remembered her. Anne also loved animals from her dogs to her turtles. She kept active through her volunteer work with the 20/20 Club and was an avid seamstress with endless projects. Anne knitted mittens for the children at Hodgin Elementary School, infant caps for the children at the neo-natal unit and involved herself in many other self-less projects. She always enjoyed caring for others. We will miss her. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Slease; her father and mother, Elmer and Meryle McBurney. She is survived by her step-children, Becky and Ken Martinez, Bill and JoAnn Slease and Cathy and Rick Overdorf; step-grandchildren Miquela and Chris Blizzard, Meredith Silveri, Murphy Slease, Becky Overdorf, Ricky and Jackie Overdorf; step-great-grandchildren, Alaura and Ryeler Blizzard, Fayth Harwell, Bently Provencio, and Aiden and Ethan Overdorf. Other survivors include her sister, Janet Armstrong; her brother, Bob McBurney; and nieces and nephews. Anne was cremated. No services will be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations in Anne's name to Canine Companions, P.O. Box 446 Santa Rosa, CA., 95402. or 1-866-CCI-DOGS (1-866-224-3647).
