COX, AGNES BELLE Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Cox, age 94, of Norman, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. Agnes Belle Cox was born on February 14, 1919 in Billings, Montana the daughter of Frank Leslie and Pearl Esther (Talcott) Hutchinson. She passed away on her 94th birthday, February 14, 2013 at the South Park East Nursing Home in Oklahoma City. Agnes was raised in Billings, Montana, where she attended the public schools there, graduating from Billings High School in 1936. After becoming a grandmother, Agnes was afforded the opportunity to enroll at the University of New Mexico, completing not only a Bachelor of Science in Education but also a Masters in Business Education. Agnes taught in private schools in Albuquerque, New Mexico, often accepting a very modest salary. Teaching students was a passion she held close to her heart and because her husband had a lucrative career, she was able to focus on the blessings of her teaching career & not her salary. Agnes married Mr. Otis Lee Cox on May 6, 1956 in Billings, Montana. The two of them lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for more than 30 years before moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 1994. While in Norman, Agnes was a member of the Newcomers Club and was a charter member of the Bridgeview United Methodist Church. Agnes was an incredible woman of faith, enjoying a very close and trustworthy relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In their retirement, Agnes and Otis enjoyed traveling the United States of America and visited Australia and New Zealand. Agnes also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Michael Cochran; one brother, Paul Hutchinson and his wife, Stefonie. Survivors include her husband of more than 56 years, Otis Cox; two daughters, Cindy Blanton of Norman; and Audrey Akers and her husband, Steve of West Lafayette, Indiana; five grandchildren, Mike Cochran Jr., and his wife, Sue of Norman, Oklahoma, Barry Blanton of Norman, Oklahoma, Scott Blanton and his wife, Edrienne of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tiffany Ouelette and her husband, Paul of Hoover, Alabama, and John Davis of St. Louis, Missouri; eight great- grandchildren, Jenni Cochran, Michael Cochran, III, Codie Cochran, Reese Blanton, Taylor Blanton, Alexandria Ouelette, Bella Ouelette, and Kane Ouelette. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Agnes Belle Cox to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Norman, 502 East Main Street, Norman, Oklahoma 73071. Burial will conclude in the Grandview Cemetery in Ft.Collins, Colorado on Friday, February 22, 2013. Arrangements for Agnes and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
