 ORTEGA, GABRIELITA V. Age 99, a resident of Chimayo, NM, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anastacio R. Ortega; son, Roger Ortega; granddaughter, JoAnn Ortega; grandson, Michael Ortega; parents, Jose Simon and Beatrice Vigil; in-laws, Rumaldo and Rosarito Ortega; brothers, Elias, Tomas, Damacio, Liborio and Emiterio Vigil; sisters, Eremita and Leonardita Vigil; brothers-in-law, Juan M. Ortega, Felix Ortega, Ben Rivera and Marcos Vigil; sisters-in-law, Martina and Maria Vigil and Trinidad and Apolonia Ortega. Gabrielita was a good example and a good christian. She cared about everyone and taught her family respect, love and to believe in yourself; she always put everybody else first. Her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law were treated like her own children. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and special friend who loved everyone. Mrs. Ortega is survived by her sons, Merejildo Ortega and wife Elma, Arturo Ortega and wife Clara and Leo Ortega and companion Betty Romero all of Chimayo, Tom Ortega and wife Helen and Harold Ortega and wife Linda all of Albuquerque; daughter, Grace Trujillo and husband Eddie of Espanola; grandchildren, Richard Ortega and wife Bobbie, Nila Montoya and husband Ray, Orlinie Velasquez and husband Sammy, Jennie Vigil and husband Billy, Peggy Vargas and husband Alfonso, Debbie Ortega, Jerry Ortega and wife LaVerne, Jennifer Gutierrez and husband Frank, Sharon Trujillo and husband Craig, Henrietta Hughes and husband Gary, Nadine Caputo and husband Joe, Nicole Ortega and husband Jason Rumley, Renee Ortega Neff and husband Kevin, Bryan Ortega and wife Monica, Eddie Trujillo and companion Bernadette Gonzales and Luke Trujillo and wife Angela; sister, Celina Rivera; sister-in-law, Amelia Vigil; and 38 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation was held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial followed at the Potrero Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following who served as pallbearers, Jason Rumley, Bryan Ortega, Debbie Ortega, Ricky Ortega, Luke Trujillo and Jerry Ortega.
