Obituary for MITCHELL

MITCHELL, WALTER MELVIN Age 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, passed away, January 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Lila Ruth Mitchell of Albuquerque; son, Gerald of Bernalillo and his wife, Laurie; son, Mark of Bothell, Washington and his wife, Beth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Burt and Marie Dickerman of Ft. Sumner; Evelyn Robison of Ft. Worth, Texas; Donnie Dickerman of Apache Junction, Arizona and Alice and Bill Stevens of Albuquerque, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his son, Stephen and parents, John and May Mitchell, brothers, Raymond, John, Weldon and sisters, Minnie and Jewell. He was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater. He retired from U.S.D.A Soil Conservation Service (now N.R.C.S.), working in Cloudcroft and Deming Field Offices and Project Planning at N.M. State Office in Albuquerque. Special thanks to JoAnn Clark and Joseph Alfieri for all their loving care. Friends may visit FRENCH - University on Monday, January 21, 2013, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm. Services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE with Pastor Steve Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
