Obituary for CHAVEZ

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 20, 2013

CHAVEZ, DELFIDO (DEL) passed away on 12/27/12 in Tucson, AZ after sudden complications from his long battle with diabetes. Del passed into heaven as he lived his life, peacefully and with quiet strength and dignity. Del was born in Santa Rosa, N.M. and spent most of his life in Albuquerque where he raised his family before moving to El Paso and later to Tucson. A lifelong administrator for causes close to his heart such as the Senior Citizens nutrition program and MADD, the kindness and efficiency he brought to his job was appreciated by all that worked with him. Del was a constant influence on both his family and friends with his positive and steady rationale and the uncanny ability to be some one that could just listen when you needed him to. One of his greatest joys in life was the close connections he was able to keep with those that new him best and he cherished all these conversation over the years. Del is survived by his two sons, Greg and Michael; and five grandchildren Gregory, Katherine, Taylor, Adam and Zachary. A Memorial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Griegos at 9:30am on Saturday the 26th of January.
