 WILEY, BETTY Age 89, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2012, with her devoted daughter Nancy by her side. She was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of Richard A. Jones and Harriet Meriwether Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband William Wiley Sr.; brother Richard M. Jones; and her stepmother Eva Drake Jones. Her early and teen years were spent on Army posts, among them Ft. Wm. McKinley, Philippine Islands. After college Betty served in the Navy during WWII. While serving, she met her husband, a WWII Marine Raider, where he served in the 1st wave at Guadalcanal. She leaves four children, William Wiley Jr of Albuquerque, Steven Wiley and wife Christine of NC, Nancy Wiley of Albuquerque and Elizabeth Wiley of CT; three brothers Ret. Navy Captain Robert Jones of TX, Ret. Lt. Col. Roger Jones of AL, Mark Jones of TX; and one sister Eva Lynne Moore of TX; along with three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in the family plot in CT. A Celebration of Life will be held in Albuquerque on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
