CARTER, JAMES "JIM" H. Age 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 3, 2013 with his family by his side. Jim was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Nora Carter. He is survived by children; Loretta (Joe) Archuleta, Brenda (Joey) Sais, Jose (Belinda) Gutierrez, Marie (Richard) Gutierrez Alarid, Neil Carter; grandchildren, Daniel (Cathann) Gutierrez, Jason Gutierrez, Jeff (Emily) Gutierrez, Nathaniel (Corrine) Gutierrez, Victoria (Chris) Baca, Neil Carter Jr., Kelly Carter, Stephanie (Carlos) Alcala, Eric Archuleta, Brian Martinez, Matthew (Melissa) Martinez, Amanda Martinez and fiancee Sam Kreiner, Aaron Sais; great-grandchildren, Mia Draggon Gutierrez, Kadiah Draggon Gutierrez, Sebastian Gutierrez, Miranda Gutierrez, Keira Gutierrez, Christopher Baca Jr., Lauren Carter, Maddison Carter, Logan and Landin Bache, Nikolas Alcala, Zaya Alcala, Jaxon Martinez, Sophia Guiierrez, and Milo Gutierrez sister; Betty Flowers; sisters-in-law, Ida (Cresencio) Gutierrez, Sally Aguilar. Jim was born in Troy, AL on October 24, 1935 to Roy S. and Frances Reeves Carter. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque he met his future wife, Nora. He and Nora moved their family to Santa Fe where they lived for many years. While in Santa Fe Jim owned several businesses including, Carter's 66, Jim and Nora's BBQ, and Carter's Muffler Shop. He was also a well known car salesman for Sauter Toyota in Santa Fe for many years. He and Nora later retired to Red River, NM. Throughout his life he enjoyed horseback riding, snow-mobiling, square dancing, fishing, and hunting. A funeral service for Jim will be held at FRENCH on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
