Obituary for TASH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 06, 2013

TASH, GEORGE L. age 72, of Surprise, AZ and formerly of Los Lunas, NM, passed away after a very short battle with cancer on 12/31/2012. George was born in Houston, TX on October 20, 1940 and was raised in Minden, LA. Soon after high school he joined the United States Air Force and served in a variety of positions all over the world for just over 20 years. He retired in 1979 and then worked civil service with the Air Force as an exhibits/model maker for another 20 years. In 1980, George found himself unexpectedly the single father of his daughter, Jessica. He raised her well and most would say that she was his greatest accomplishment in life. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and generally being outdoors. Like his father before him he was also very active in the Masonic Lodge with memberships at several lodges in NM but his "home" was at Bethlehem 56 in Belen, NM. In 1999, George placed his faith in Jesus Christ and followed him faithfully until he died. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Caughey and her husband, Matthew Caughey; their three girls, Lily Grace, Abigail Faith, and Sarah Noelle, all of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Tash, Dorothy E. (Collins) Tash; and both of his sisters, Dolores I. Tash and Beverly A. Baker. Services will be held Friday, January 18 at Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 with a visitation beginning at 9:30 am, funeral service at 11:00 am and graveside service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek, AZ at 12:30 pm.
