Obituary for PECKUMN

PECKUMN, CARL W. Age 87, a resident of Albuquerque. Carl passed away at home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Carl was born in Altus, Oklahoma on December 16, 1924. He was the oldest of seven children. He grew up in Del Norte, Colorado. Carl joined the Army in 1942 and he fought both in North Africa and Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and went back to Del Norte, Colorado to live. Here he met Peggy and they were married in September 1946. They moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1951 where they raised their five children. He worked as an auto mechanic at various garages in Albuquerque until 1977. He then began his teaching career at the Technical Vocational Institute where he taught auto mechanics until he retired in 1985. He loved to go hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Carl was a proud member of the 361st Infantry Association WWII and was serving as their President; he was also a member of the American Legion Post 49. He was director of the New Mexico Rangers for several years. Carl is survived by his wife Peggy, children, Michael Peckumn and wife Linda, Janice Adams and husband Dennis, Carol Smith and husband Paul, Judy Lackey and husband Ray, grandchildren, Ronny, Michelle, Tina, Kristy, April, Misty and great-grandkids, Anthony, Steven, Hunter, Hayden, Thomas, Corbin, Travis, Kameron and Seanna. Brothers, Delbert, Doil, Ralph and sister Gladyse. He was preceded in death by his son David, daughter Carla Sue, and granddaughter Carla Sue and his sisters Billie and Nell. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 12:30 PM. Direct Funeral Services are in charge of arrangements.
