SANCHEZ, ADOLFO 1918-2012 Adolfo Sanchez, December 14th 2012, Friday morning went to be with his loving wife Nancy and God as they left behind the beautiful rain to nourish our land and lives. Adolfo, age 94, was born March 25th, 1918 on a farm in Jarales and was resident of Pueblitos, NM. At the age of 7 mo was raised by his grandmother, Marina and father, Enriqez and many loving aunts. He attended the first public school in Valencia County. He was valedictorian in 8th grade. After high school he worked for the Farm Service Agency assisting farmers and ranchers with projects. This encouraged him to go to NMSU where as a proud Aggie he was drafted to the Army. He was asked to go to Officer Training School. He decided to become a Staff Sargent instead and was given his own platoon to train. He traveled the world on the USS Taos which led him to Hiroshima 7 days after the bombing. Upon return he started his career for Health and Human Services by retirement he was the Director of Valencia and Torrence County. Retired he was back to his dreams of farming and enjoyed his family. He was a proud father and grandfather and was thankful to God for all that he had. He was honest as the day was long and a strong leader in the community. Adolfo was preceded in death by his love, Nancy Sanchez; mother and father, Candelaria and Enriquez Sanchez and many other loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Joan and husband, Max Romero, sons, Dr. Roland K. Sanchez and wife, Elia, Adolph P. Sanchez and wife, Kathy, Fred Sanchez and wife, Therese; 18 amazing grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Orlando and Bernice Sanchez. A warm thank you from the entire family to Raquel and Juan Jimenez for all of their love and care they shared and gave our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Pallbearers will be Michael Layton, Manual "Myles" Romero, Adolfo, Emilio, Isaac, Jericho, Joshua and Nathan Sanchez. Honorary Pallbearers will be his loving brother-in-law and wife, Orlando and Bernice Sanchez. All service will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church in Belen, NM on Friday, December 21, beginning with a viewing at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
