THOMPSON, JOAN A. Born: Anita Joan Walls, February 23, 1926, Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, was a member of First Christian Church in Albuquerque for many years, and was a member of Rainbow Girls, Jobs Daughter, and Chi Omega Sorority. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1996. She was a member of West Oak Woods Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Smatana; her son Thomas Martin Smatana; her brother Burney Walls; and her sister Juanita Martin. She is survived by her husband John Thompson; daughter Cheryl Robinson and husband Jimmy. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Rachel Morelli and husband Thomas, Kimberly Walker and husband Tony, Thomas Johnson and and wife Erin, Randy Robinson and wife Marcie, Rodney Robinson and wife Jackie. She had 13 great- grandchildren: Stephanie, Brandon, Jordan, Travis, Corey, Katie, Jacob, Emma, Thomas, Simon, Ronan, Preston, and Sophia. She had six great-great-grandchildren: Mason, Carson, Madison, Matthew, Reece, and Lillie. Joan was a loving, Christian woman, with a gentle heart and sweet spirit. she was loved by her family and many, many friends. She loved to spend time watching her many grandchildren and playing cards with her family. For such a tiny woman she had the faith of a giant and it was apparent to all who met her. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:28-29 The visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, 11/29, at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, where funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, 11/30, with burial to follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca. The family would like to express their thanks to her caregiver angels; Sarahy, Eva, and Mattie and the wonderful people at Hospice-Austin. "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God."
