BERNSTEIN, RUTH Age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, November 7 at her home; in the presence of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Sharon Smoker; and her parents, H. J. and Mary Bernstein. She is survived by her children, Linda Smoker of Albuquerque, NM and Richard Smoker (wife, Julie Engelbrecht) of San Jose, CA; her son-in-law, Russell Wynn of Albuquerque, NM; her granddaughter, Chavella Aragon of Albuquerque, NM; her granddaughter, Melina Smoker, of San Jose, CA, her great-granddaughter, Selena Ramirez of Albuquerque, NM and her beloved grand-dog, 'Cacho'. Ruth was born in Marion, Indiana and moved to New Mexico in the 1950's. She loved New Mexico and considered herself an honorary native New Mexican. She particularly loved the history of New Mexico and was happiest when she was teaching others about New Mexico. She spent many enjoyable hours as a docent at the Albuquerque Museum and Casa San Ysidro and was able to pass on her knowledge to the many people she encountered. A private graveside service will be held with family members.
