Obituary for WAHL

WAHL, LA VONNE, DR. died in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 5th, at 61 years of age. She was born to Lester and Betty (Miller) Wahl in Lidgerwood, North Dakota on August 19th, 1951. LaVonne and her younger brother, Larry enjoyed many happy times during childhood visiting their grandparents, August and Emma (Gussiaas) Miller, young aunts, uncles and cousins at their farm northeast of Carrington, North Dakota. It was here that she gained her love of people by being a part of a large family. She enjoyed sharing her gift of humor and her fun loving personality with everyone throughout her life. LaVonne graduated from Minot (ND) High School, and resided in Fargo, North Dakota as a young adult, where she worked in accounting. She later attended communication classes and assisted in teaching at North Dakota State University. She moved to Nebraska, where she obtained her PhD in communication and then furthered her career by teaching communication skills at New Mexico Technical and Vocational Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had many happy years in Albuquerque, commonly entertaining friends and family with her stories and laughter and tricks performed by her talented dog, Angel. LaVonne is survived by her faithful caretaker and friend, Florence Gonzales (aka Springer), Albuquerque, NM, four aunts and three uncles; Shirley Kivley, McHenry, IL, Gladys (John) Kautzman, West Fargo, ND, Dianne Marsh, St Croix Falls, WI, Dr. Joyce Miller, London, United Kingdom, Merlin Miller and Wes (Patti) Miller, Carrington, ND, James (Bonnie) Miller, Bismarck ND, and many cousins and friends. She is loved and cherished and will be alive in our hearts forever. LaVonne was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Wahl, her baby sister, Linda Susan Wahl, her mother, Betty Shannon, her stepfather, Tom Cockrill, her father, Lester Wahl, her aunt, Alice Campbell, her uncle, Wayne Miller and her Grandparents, August and Emma Miller.
