Obituary for BARRERAS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday August 19, 2012

JEAN Jeannie, It has been three years since you left the intellectual world to go to the spiritual world. We miss you very much, but God's will was done and that is the only thing that counts. I want to turn attention to your intellect while you were here on earth with us when you composed a poem you titled: "The God of Eleven Fifty-Nine" When the battle seems lost and I think I can't win it, it's better to pray than to whine. Prayer can be answered at the last minute by the God of Eleven Fifty-Nine. If the answer is slow, I'll have no regret, though I stand at the end of the line. His answer is not "No" and He does not forget; He is the God of Eleven Fifty-Nine. There may be something He wants me to learn, or something in me I need to refine. Just when I wonder when it's my turn to go, there is the God of Eleven Fifty-Nine. So, I will pray and I will wait, though the road is all uphill. Believe me, the pleasure is mine. At the end of the road, all of my dreams He will fulfill; my God of Eleven Fifty-Nine. (by Jean Barreras) Aaron, Stacey, Dee, Joan, Jared, and me, Ralph, miss your flaming red hair, your beautiful smile and your impeccable countenance. We love you, Jeannie; God loves you too.
