Obituary for MANTSCH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday August 01, 2012

CONNOR Our beautiful gift, Connor Mantsch, left this world way too soon at only 14 years, on Thursday, July 26, 2012. Connor was a truly amazing human being. Anybody who knew Connor understood how unique and special he was. Connor was an incredible musician, a strong athlete, and a great student. He had the most infectious smile, heart-warming giggle, and was known for his funny sense of humor. He preferred the natural world to video games, kept his gardens neat and lush, and had a mind for creativity and inventions that is warmly remembered by his friends and family. Connor had uncommon integrity and character, and his dedication to excellence was evident in all that he attempted. Connor was thoughtful and a student of life. He was a dreamer and had a clear vision of his future. He found success in what he did and has been described as a "remarkable young mind." Connor was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. While Connor was quiet and introspective initially, one discovered the very loyal, loving and dedicated friend that quickly emerged. His gentle playfulness will be missed dearly. Connor was an immensely caring brother and he loved his sisters, MacKenzie and Erin dearly. They will miss him more than words can say. May Connor's kindness, depth and genuine nature serve as an inspiration to all whose lives he touched and remind us of the way to live best. The community and world is a better place because Connor was in it sharing so much of himself and his talents. Shari and Bryan are immensely proud and grateful to have had the privilege to be his parents and know that the world loses a wonderful and beautiful soul. A service in reflection and celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Alb., NM. Connor is survived by his parents, Bryan Mantsch and Shari O'Loughlin; sisters, MacKenzie and Erin Mantsch; grandparents, Barbara O'Loughlin, Robert and Barbara Mantsch, and Tom and Diana O'Loughlin; aunts, Cathy O'Loughlin, Laurie O'Loughlin and Brenda Mantsch; uncle, Jim Kittle; cousins, Jessica Mantsch, Elizabeth McClune, Tiffany Palo, Bailey Kittle, Logan Kittle, and Gregory Palo; extended family, and a world of friends.
