Obituary for RUIZ

RAMONA loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandma, went with the Lord and Savior on June 26, 2012. Ramoncita Sandoval was the first child of Benito and Frances Sandoval, born April 19, 1927 in Vaughn, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 28 years, Arthur Ruiz, of Los Angeles, California and sister, Ida Lueras of Albuquerque. She is survived by her four daughters and two sons-in-law, Antoinette Galindre, Jeanette Chavez, Kathy Geibel, Charlotte Vigil, Carlos Galindre and Pat Chavez; seven grandchildren: John Chavez of Quincy, Illinois, Tammy Day, Stephanie Galindre Flores and Anthony Galindre of Albuquerque, Grant Serna of Clovis, Rachael Sanchez of Monte Vista, Michael Pacheco of Moriarty; twelve great-grandchildren: Audianna and Blessing Pacheco, Daniel Macias, Tiersa Sanchez, Tamara and Katyana Serna, Eric Flores, Jonathan and Matthew Day, Seth Megan, Abram, and Levi Chavez; John Geibel Jr, her first husband and father of her four daughters; stepsons and daughter, Lloyd Ruiz of Louisville, KY, Kathy Barribal of South Island, New Zealand, Artie Ruiz of Shingletown, CA, and Rodney Ruiz of Redding, CA; her sister, Maggie Lopez of Vaughn and brothers, Joe and Bennie Sandoval of Albuquerque. She lived in Massillon, Ohio, Lomita, California, her dream home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and in Albuquerque prior to her passing. Her first employment was at Adobe Acres Elementary as a cook in the early 60's and then returned to Vaughn where she managed the School Cafeteria. In 1978 she moved to California where she managed the Food Service Branch of Bay Harbor Hospital in Lomita until she moved to Pagosa Springs, where she managed the High School Cafeteria until her retirement in 2005. She and Art then settled in Albuquerque in that same year. She was a dedicated member of the Wednesday morning Aerobics crowd at Bear Canyon Senior Center and made many friends there. Ramona was a parishioner at Risen Savior Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd, NE. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Galindre, Eric Flores, Michael Sandoval, Michael Pacheco, Martin Tapia and Johnny Ray Salazar, Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be Daniel M. Macias.
