Obituary for NIBLOCK

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday June 06, 2012

KAREN MARIE Karen, loving wife of Henry, a woman treasured by all in her extended family, lost her long struggle with breast cancer quietly and peacefully at home with loved ones by her side on Monday, May 28, 2012. Born Karen Marie Wheeler on September 23, 1950 in Sheridan, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Joel and Adeline Wheeler. Along with her husband, she is survived by her mother, Adeline; brother Joel and his wife Evelin; brother Jan and his wife Venetia; sister Kay and her husband Frank. She was an avid gardener and herbalist. She danced all her life, and was a children's dance instructor for many years. She enjoyed time spent at Heron lake over the years, swimming, hiking (often barefoot), and collecting plants for her tinctures and salves. She was an artist, a songbird, and a very caring soul. Karen simply loved all people, and her gentle and enthusiastic spirit touched those who met her. Shunning traditional western medicine, her life was a lesson in independence and inner strength. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
