Obituary for GOMEZ

MARY ANN MARTINEZ age 69, passed away on Friday, June 1st, after an extended illness. Mary Ann is survived by her mother, Epifania Fresquez Martinez; her son, Scott Gomez; her granddaughter, Skyeler Baker-Gomez; Naomi Martinez; Renee Baker; and Khloe Rayner. Mary Ann was a proud New Mexican. She graduated from Loretto Academy in Santa Fe in 1960, represented New Mexico at the 1964 World's Fair in New York City and studied Political Science at Webster College. Mary Ann worked in Washington, D.C. for over 25 years as a presidential appointee for Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush and George W. Bush. During this time she held several positions including Deputy Regional Director of Dept. of Health and Human Services; Director of Constituent Affairs for the "Take Pride in America" initiative; and was a Director of H.U.D. Mary Ann worked closely with and was a friend of Manuel Lujan, Pete Dominici, Bill Redmond, Rudy Beserra, Lou Gallegos and Selma Sierra. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Albuquerque. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Basilica in Santa Fe. Arrangements entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque, 764-9663.
