THELMA MAXINE (STEPHENS) Maxine was born March 25, 1926 in Yonkers Oklahoma and died February 11, 2012, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Soon after her birth her parents moved to Grove Oklahoma where she grew up. She was the oldest of seven children and went to school in Grove until her Junior year when the family move to Fairland, OK where Maxine graduated. She attended nursing school and graduated from Oral Roberts University as a Nurse Anesthetist. She did her residency in New Orleans, La. She started her career at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, worked there for 10 years and then began working at the VA hospital where she retired after 30 years of care. Maxine was preceeded in death by her husband of 47 years, William Conrad Durden. She is survived by her two children, William "Will" Durden and wife Olga Durden, Jane Durden Moore and husband Dr. Drew Moore and four grandchildren, Bryan, Forest, Victoria and Wyatt and many other family and friends. A Memorial Service will be Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery where her beloved Conrad is buried.
