JOE PETE Age 82, died peacefully at home Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Born July 23, 1929, he fought a valiant three year battle with cancer. Joe Pete was born in the Village of Los Ranchos to Miguel and Francisquita Jaramillo. Pete was a farmer for more than 50 years in the North Valley. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, and a member Post 69 where he served proudly in the honor guard for many years. He was a lifetime member of Sociedad Nuevo Mexicana de Mutua Proteccion No. 2 of Alameda, NM and of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Church. Joe Pete is survived by his beloved wife Tomasita of almost 60 years; his children, Panchita J. (PJ) King, husband Michael, Jose, wife Linda, Estella Martinez, husband Steve, Estevan, wife Fronia, Raul, wife Gail and Rebecca Contreras, husband Alex. Joe Pete is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Nicole Coons husband Andy, Damian King wife Rebekah, Steve Martinez wife Monica, Cody Jaramillo wife Amanda, Joshua Jaramillo, Daniel Jaramillo, Lindsey Patcha husband Patrick, Tomasita Martinez, Justina Perea, Justin Perea, Antonio Jaramillo and Kalynn Jaramillo; eleven great-grandchildren and another on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Manuel E. Jaramillo wife Juanita; sisters, Triny Martinez husband Horico and Chonita Zamora; sister-in-law, Margaret Turner; and brother-in-law, Ricardo Vigil wife Ann; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Joe Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Francisquita Jaramillo; sister, Mary Luz Angel; and brother-in-law, Manuel Vigil. Family and friends may visit Monday, May 21, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth Street NW, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be his grandsons Damian, Steve, Cody, Joshua, Daniel, Justin. Honorary Bearers will be his nephews, Michael and Danny Jaramillo. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 69 Honor Guard.
