JAMES PATRICK Age 81, passed away from complications from cancer and COPD on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Jim was born on April 5th, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Hugh and Grace McTernan. He attended Rockhurst High School and College in Kansas City. Jim served three years in the Navy during the Korean War. He competed in Golden Gloves boxing and was an avid baseball player and lifelong KC Royals fan. Jim was married to the late Carolyn Rita Crow for 51 years. He and Carolyn were devoted Catholics and members of Christ the King Church in Kansas City and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho, NM. Jim is survived by his six children: Hugh and wife, Coy, Mike and wife, Tracy, Rita Slack and husband, Kevin, Bill and wife, Suzanne, son, Stephen, and daughter, Michelle. He is, also, survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dad was a devoted husband and father who set the example of how to cherish one's wife and love one' children. Thank you, Dad! A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel , 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho. The Rosary will follow the Visitation, beginning at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho. Interment will follow with US Navy Honors at Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho.
