GEORGE LINDLEY Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to George Albert and Theodora (Thea) Boal, on September 29, 1921 in Newell, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth P. Boal in May 1993 and is survived by his current wife, Anita Faye Boal. The surviving family members consist of George M. and Carolyn Boal, Clovis, NM; Dennis and Cheryl Boal, Albuquerque, NM; Stevan Boal, San Jacinto, CA; and Rhonda Boal, Albuquerque, NM; step-daughters, Georgann Wall, Albuquerque, NM, Gaylynn Hartell, San Juan Capistrano, CA and Jana Ryan, Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren include, Michelle, Sandra, Renee, Benjamin, Caitlin, and Camille; great-grandchildren include Taylor, Hayley, Heather, Marshal, Brandon and Paige. George was drafted into the US Army in 1940 and retired as a Major in 1964. During his military service, he served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. He became the hospital administrator for St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, and retired in 1982. He returned to Albuquerque to enjoy his retirement years. George's passion in life was baseball, and he was recruited by the Brooklyn Dodgers; however his career was interrupted by WWII. He continued to play baseball and pitched for the Santa Fe Fallstaffers baseball team in the 1950's and was known by his teammates as "The Sarge." He belonged to the Military Officer Association of America (MOAA) and the American Hospital Association. Friends may visit French Mortuary Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers and if inspired please make a donation to your favorite charity in George's name.
