Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 08, 2012

KATHREN "KATHIE" DORA Died at age 71 on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 of complications from a ruptured appendix. She was born in Haskell County, TX August 9, 1940 to late parents Gordon and Media Bristow. Kathie was widow of Charles Earl Wood, married August 1, 1959. She is survived by elder brother Jim Bristow; elder sister Dorothy Fry; two sons Danton Wood and Jeffrey Wood; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Kathie was a happy resident of Albuquerque since 1978, where she sat on the zoning commission board during the 1980s. For thirty-five years she worshipped the Lord Jesus Christ with the spirit-filled congregation of New Song Christian Fellowship (formerly Tabernacle of Praise). Kathie blessed her co-workers at J.C. Penny in Rio Rancho where she worked for almost twenty years. Kathie Wood was a prayer warrior, always interceding for friends and loved-ones. Everyone agrees that her smile had healing properties and the soothing comfort of her voice offered good counsel to all. Kathie was also known for her listening ears, which were always tuned to the suffering of others. If you knew Kathie, please join family and friends for an evening of celebration of her amazing life. Bring your stories about her, and the smile you get when you think of her. Her memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, April 9th at New Song Christian Fellowship, 6013 Paradise Blvd, Abq, 87114. Refreshments will be served following the service.
