HARRY SIDNEY REVEREND DOCTOR Age 90, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM since December 2008, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012. He was born in Lakewood Heights, GA on November 28, 1921, to Clarke Jefferts Newman and Ivy Maud Hicks. He was one of five boys, all of whom preceded him in death. Harry is survived by wife, Rev. Dr. Elinor Marie Newman; four stepchildren, Eric Chris Dahl of Rainbow, CA, Leif Alan Dahl of Adamstown, MD, Evonne Marie Holder of Los Alamos, NM, Annette Marie Dahl of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Victoria Elaine Pegram of Salisbury, NC. He served in the American Merchant Marine in ocean going service during the period of armed conflict December 7, 1941 to August 15, 1945. This is a division of the United States Coast Guard. While living in New York City and working for Macys, he studied at Columbia University. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1948 and a M.S. in education, philosophical and psychological foundations in 1952. While working for Eastern Airline as a V.P. and married to Louise Newman, he decided after a miracle healing to become a minister with Unity Church of Lees Summit, MO. After three years in seminary he was ordained and served in Connecticut, Texas, California and Nevada in churches at those locations. In 1975 his wife Louise died in his arms after 34 years of marriage. He earned a doctorate of Ministry from the college of Seminarians and several honorary doctorates. Two of the books he has written are "Synchronize Your Life" and "Meditations For Many Occasions". While in Ventura, CA, he had a weekly radio program. In 1976 he married Elinor and in 1987 he was conveyor for 250 ministers to Japan and Korea. He also was in charge of a biblical college. He was so proud to be a Unity Minister helping many to have a more positive and loving approach to our God. He received his 55 year pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the state of New York Lodge #563 having been raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on December 1, 1954. The 55 year pin was presented by the local lodge on Barbara Loop here in Rio Rancho on November 4, 2009. A Private Memorial Service will be held in their home.
