JOE J. passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Born in Mentmore, NM, he moved to Albuquerque where he attended Stronghurst Elementary School and graduated from St. Marys High School. Corporal Joe J. Baca was a proud member of the Marine Corps and a veteran of the Korean War. After completing his military service, he enjoyed a very successful career in law enforcement. Joe enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and living it up in Las Vegas, NV. He gave generously of his time to the American Legion Post 100 and the VFW and was a member of the Catholic Church. Joe was a loving husband to his wife Thelma Miera Baca; a nurturing and generous father to his sons Dennis Michael Baca and wife Leigh; William J. Baca and wife Caroline; and Joseph Baca Jr. He was a caring and kind grandfather to his seven grandsons, and one granddaughter, five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by three granddaughters-in-law, one grandson-in-law and three step-grandchildren. His parents, Joe and Louisa Baca, and a baby sister preceded him in death. Joe will be dearly missed by his many friends and relatives. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:30am, at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109; A Funeral Mass will immediately follow the Rosary service.
