Obituary for RUSCETTI

RICHARD S. Age 76, died suddenly on January 22, 2012. "Coach", was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1935. He served in the Armed Forces in Korea from 1951-1954. Coach moved to Albuquerque in 1958 where he played baseball at St. Joseph's College and earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, from the University of New Mexico. He started student teaching PE at Sandia High School in 1964 and continued his teaching career until 1982. Rick was the Assistant Football coach from 1965-1970 and the Head Wrestling Coach from 1970-1982. He coached the Sandia Matador Wrestling team to four State Championships and was nationally recognized as Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1978. After leaving Sandia, Rick became a personal trainer and bodybuilder at Liberty Gym. As a bodybuilder, he placed 2nd nationally in his division in 1984. He then moved to Malaysia to be the strength coach to the Olympic teams. He returned to Albuquerque and opened a personal training gym, the Training Sensation, from 1994 to 2004. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Joseph Ruscetti; his sister Connie and his brother Joe. He is survived by his wife, Marilynn; sons, Rick and his wife Lisa of Indianapolis, IN, Mike and his wife Teresa of Scottsdale, AZ and Fred Ruscetti of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Tracy Ruscetti and her husband Randy Groves of Sunnyvale, CA and grandchildren, Michael, Anthony and Ryan Ruscetti of Scottsdale, Nick Ruscetti of Indianapolis and Savannah and Miranda Ruscetti of Scottsdale, and Taylor Groves of Sunnyvale. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Shirne of St.Bernadette, 1800 Martha Street NE, at 10:30 AM with areception to follow in the Parish Hall.
