JULIA "JULIE" ALLEN Was born to Edward Bingham and Emma (Pocta) Allen in Cleveland, Ohio on April 27, 1927 and died peacefully at home on January 14, 2012 with the brief but welcomed support of Pres. Home and Hospice care. She was raised in Sarasota, Florida where she met and fell in love with her life long husband, Dr. Frank Logan. They moved to Iowa City where Frank earned his Ph.D. in psychology. Their two children were born in Iowa. They moved to Connecticut (Frank a Yale University professor) and then to NM (Frank chairperson, professor and professor emeritus at UNM). They jointly created a research and reference library at UNM called the Quad-L Library (Logan Laws of Learning Literature) which also sponsors a distinguished visiting professor lecture series. Julie was enchanted with NM where she enjoyed the rest of her years. Traveling was their passion which enabled them to explore diverse ancient and current cultures as well as varied and unique environments. Julie centered her life around her family whom she nurtured with great care. She also dedicated herself to the well being of animals, whether it be her dogs who became her "children" or the birds and wildlife around her home. A kinder, gentler or more loving spirit would be hard to find. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her son Frank Logan and his wife Pat; her daughter Dr. Nancy Logan and her husband Dr. Richard Garver; her granddaughter JessYvonne Logan and her husband Chuck Little; and her great-granddaughter and namesake, Julia Allen Logan-Wheeler. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. For those who wish to honor her life, please donate to the Quad-L Library Trust, UNM Psychology Dept, Logan Hall, Alb, NM 87131, MSC-032220 (www.unm.edu/-quadl .) in lieu of flowers. A private memorial service will be planned in the spring where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her love, Frank Logan. May they rest in peace together now and forever.
