Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday January 18, 2012

ROSELLA ANAYA Was born December 7, 1925 and passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 86. Rosella graduated from Harwood Girls Schools in Home Economics. She was a homemaker but helped all her life in running the family businesses. She was an inspiration to her family because they were the center of her life and everything she did was devoted to them and their wellbeing. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, and knit and her passions were passed down with gentle guidance and patience to her children and grandchildren who wanted to learn these skills. Her red chile was known to all that entered her kitchen and many people always encouraged her to market it to the world. She would simply laugh and tell the story how her husband always told her that you should never skimp on the meat and that is how she taught us all to make it. She loved her children and grandchildren and through her years of acquired wisdom passed on her knowledge and advice to them. She was a mother to the many friends her sons brought home to eat and stay a while, and always had an open door. She is loved and remembered by all. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Efren Saavedra; son, Sammy Saavedra; and grandson, Robbie Saavedra. Rosella is survived by her sons, Ruben Saavedra, Efren Saavedra Jr., Richard Saavedra and Cathy Chavez, Paul Saavedra of Albuquerque, and Anthony and Jennifer Saavedra of Monrovia, California; daughter-in-law, Kathy Saavedra; grandchildren, Ruben Jr., Richie, Clyde, Samantha, Brittany, Chloe, Savannah, Mackie, Ashlee, Cassie and Nickel; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends who love and will miss her. Services will be held at Holy Family Parish, 562 Atrisco SW. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 9:00am. Private family burial will take place at a later time.
