JOHN John "Papa John" Lerma, age 65, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, met Our Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2011 with his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Frances "Mama Fran" by his side. John was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy and loving mother-in-law, Theresa "Treza" Chavez. John was blessed with a son, John Joseph and Lady Yvette; two granddaughters, Kailene Esperanza and Heaven Leigh; brothers, Francisco and Richard; father-in-law, Tony "Porky" Chavez; brother-in-law, Joseph; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Gloria, Grace and Darla; "out-laws" Eva, Joe, Laura and Mike; several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. John was a life-long member of Local #1319 Carpenter's Union Shop and took great pride in building New Mexico for 37 years. Special thanks and blessings to all who shared in John's three year battle with cancer, including a very special guardian angel, Sandy and Presbyterian Hospice Care. John will be truly missed by all who knew him. A memorial Rosary and Mass will be celebrated at our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee, NE on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 9:30 am. A Christian Burial will take place in Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 Guadalupe, Santa Fe, NM with Military Honors on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 9:45 am. Honorary Urn Bearer is Frankie Lerma.
