PENNY Was born in Baltimore, MD on July 14, 1917. She attended the Friends Quaker School in Baltimore, MD and Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. Penny worked at the Princeton Physics Labs and came to New Mexico in 1943 for the Manhattan Project. She was also involved in community theater in Albuquerque. She was married to Ray B. Powell, vice president at Sandia National Labs and Chairman of the state democratic party. Penny was involved in supporting education within the community and issues related to the welfare of animals. On Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the age of 94, Penny passed away. She is survived by son, Thomas Snyder, of Albuquerque; daughter, Pamela Powell, of San Francisco, CA; and son, Ray Powell Jr., of Albuquerque.
