MERVYN G. (BIG FRIEND) Age 70, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 21, 2011. Mr Nephew is survived by his beloved wife, Vangie Rubi Nephew; his children, Eric Nephew, Mark Nephew, Darlene Acosta and husband, Johnny, and Gene Gutierrez; brothers, Clayton Nephew, Dale Nephew, and Jose Suarez; and granddaughter, Ariana (Little Friend) Acosta. Mr. Nephew was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Nephew; parents, Terry and Rebecca Nephew; and sister, LucilleNephew. Mr. Nephew was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S.A.F, past Boxing President of N.M. Boxing Association, was a referee for boxing, softball, baseball, and basketball. Mr. Nephew was well known in the City of Albuquerque, working in Traffic Engineering, and retired after 26 years of service. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. unitl 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church, 1400 Walter NE. Final visitation will be Wednesday at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. interment of cremains will follow at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
