Obituary for WEBER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday November 19, 2011

JAMES JOSEPH Jim was born on July 10, 1957 to Evelyn Payne Weber and George Weber in Newark, Ohio. Jim left us on October 22, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Pick's disease. Jim leaves behind his life partner and loving caregiver Eric Senff; his son Jeremiah Weber; his mother Evelyn Weber Chandler and stepfather Bill Chandler; as well as five brothers, one sister, and their families; his stepsisters and their families; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Jim was predeceased by his father George Weber. Jim worked for almost 16 years for the New Mexico Human Services Department - Income Support Division in a number of key positions. He was a caring and compassionate man who believed we have both the duty and the privilege of serving others in need of help and encouragement. He was wickedly witty, bright and curious, with an infectious laugh and an always warm smile. He and Eric's annual Christmas parties were legendary in the Albuquerque community for the food, fellowship, and of course the Jell-O shots enjoyed by all in attendance. Jim and Eric loved to travel, and brought back many humorous stories of their travel adventures. Though he battled his illness for a long time he remained sweet and loving on even his worst days. His life was a celebration of the many opportunities for joy and happiness we have when we open our minds, hearts and hands to others, and his example was a valuable lesson for us. We will honor his memory with gratitude for the way he touched our lives, and though he will be greatly missed, we rejoice that his spirit and body are now free from pain and restriction. A sincere thank you to the many people who provided assistance, care and support to Jim and Eric during these last years and months of Jim's life, with a special thanks to those who provided such professional and tender care from UNM Hospital, HealthSouth Rehab, Manzano del Sol's Skilled Care unit and VistaCare Hospice. A private memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Marcello's Chop House in the ABQ Uptown Center, 2201 Q St, Suite 9-B - 87110 with the hope that those who knew and loved him will come to honor a life well-lived, and to share memories of him with laughter and gratitude for the times we were given with him. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
