SALOMON Age 56, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at his family ranch in Rociada, NM. Salomon, a resident of Santa Fe was born on September 27, 1955 in Las Vegas, NM. He attended high school at Robertson and graduated from NMSU where he achieved a degree in Agriculture. He was recently appointed by President Barack Obama as the State Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency of the US Department of Agriculture. Ramirez was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Aggies. He loved spending weekends in Rociada at his family's ranch and was passionate about helping farmers and ranchers in New Mexico. He was a generous friend who never asked what he could do to help; he simply did what needed to be done. He was preceded in death by his father Salomon S. Ramirez and his niece Angie Armijo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Rosalie Ramirez; his daughter, Amanda Chavez and her husband Cedric; his pride and joy granddaughter, Elena; his son, Ryan Ramirez; his mother, Angie Ramirez; sisters, Mary Ann Ortiz (Juan), Elizabeth Betty Armijo (Paul); brothers, Gilbert Ramirez (Katie), Sammy Ramirez (Brenda); his father and mother-in-law, Henry M. Valdez and Margaret; brother-in-laws, James Valdez (Lynette), Henry Valdez, Kenny Valdez (Veronica); sister-in-law, Patt Valdez; nieces, Andrea Ortiz, Samatha Ortiz, Tarrah Valdez and Krista Valdez; nephews, Paul Armijo Jr., Mathew Ramirez, Jacob Ramirez, Isaac Ramirez, Jimmy Valdez, John Valdez, Alex Valdez, Nic Valdez, Henry C. Valdez, and Kevin Valdez; along with several grand-nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Rosary will be prayed in Salomon's honor on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 7:00 pm at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM. A Mass will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:00 am also at Santa Maria de La Paz followed by a burial at the family ranch in Rociada, NM. Paul Armijo Jr., Mathew Ramirez, Jacob Ramirez, Isaac Ramirez, John Valdez, Jimmy Valdez, Henry C. Valdez and Kevin Valdez will serve as pallbearers. Friends and family are invited to join the family for a luncheon at the home of Sammy Ramirez in Rociada, NM, immediately following the burial services.
