Obituary for MILLE

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday October 06, 2011

REGINA A. Passed away peacefully at home in Albuquerque, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Regina was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Joseph and Katherine Fabiano, on August 8, 1936. Regina moved to New Mexico in 1972 with her daughter, Kathy, and joined her parents and brother, Joe, in Rio Rancho. She worked for Amrep Corp. for over 20 years, and later retired from the Water Utilities Dept. of Rio Rancho. Regina loved the laughter of children, the joy of all animals, and the actor Richard Basehart. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law and cousin, and a loyal and loving friend. Regina was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, and even when Alzheimer's took away memory and motor skills, she could still smile at the prospect of a cup of coffee. Regina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Ken Wimmer; her brother Joe Fabiano; and many cousins and friends. Her family would especially like to thank Regina's special caregivers, Ken's sister Cathy, and Regina's best friend, Phyllis Cuoco. Special thanks also to Presbyterian Hospice, helping us to care for her at home for the past several months. Mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, with a Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Actors and Others for Animals (actorsandothers.com). Or, just be especially kind to a dog or cat, or hug a child in Regina's memory.
