Obituary for MARJON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday September 25, 2011

LILLI BUSTOS Passed away on September 19, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. With her passing, New Mexico loses a vibrant part of its history. Lilli was born on October 30, 1924. Her parents were Celedon and Federika Bustos of Santa Cruz, NM. She had four brothers, Tony, Joe, Edward, and Dan Bustos. She graduated from Our Sisters of Loretto Academy in Santa Fe, a finishing school for young women in Northern New Mexico. While obtaining her degree at UNM, Lilli became a scholar of the Spanish culture in New Mexico. She herself was part of a unique population of New Mexicans who trace their ancestors to the first settlers of the Reconquest in 1693. Lilli married Pierre Marjon during World War II. They had four children, Louis, Peter, David and Sharon. Peter died March 18, 2011. Lilli is also survived by grandchildren, Joachim, Hannah, Marshal, Steven, Philip, Kris, Nicole, Cate, Noelle, Angie, Lily and Mary Grace. Locally, Lilli was probably best known as an accomplished runner. She competed hundreds of times, and enjoyed her running friends. Her Funeral is Tuesday, September 27, at 9:00 a.m. at our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by interment in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Life will never be the same without Mom's warm smile and endless patience.
