ENRIQUE Age 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Saturday, September 3, 2011. He is survived by his spouse, Maria Luisa, born in Paraguay, and married to him for thirty-one years. Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique Almagro, Sr., and Herminia Rodriguez de Almagro; as well as by his brother, Alvaro. He was a member of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community. Enrique was born in Havana, Cuba, where he attended De La Salle High School. Later on, he studied Architecture at the University of Havana, but did not finish his career, due to political unrest in his native country. As a result, he went to live with relatives in Belgium, where he worked and learned French. He arrived in Albuquerque during the late sixties, and started working at LAPE (Latin American Program of Education) at the University of New Mexico as an accountant. This position led him to work in an educational program, in El Salvador, also sponsored by UNM. A few years after his return, he retired. Enrique enjoyed antiques and military equipment from WWII. As a result, he had a collection of artifacts from all over the world. He also loved all kinds of music and documentaries, but most of all he enjoyed getting together with friends, either at his house or restaurants, and having a good time. Enrique was a very good friend to many people. Needless to say, he will be terribly missed. Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE, presided by Fr. Fernando Rubio-Boitel.
