Obituary for CONRAD

DR. JAMES "JIM" 85, died on August 2, 2011 inOakland, CA with his family by his side. He was born on May 20, 1926 in Lansing, MI. He served in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan and Alpha Omega Alpha from the University of Michigan Medical School. After an Invasive Cardiology Fellowship in Salt Lake City, Utah, he practiced cardiology for most of his career in Albuquerque, NM. He loved Brahms, Beethoven, Vivaldi and Shubert, Lena Horn, Oscar Peterson, Robert Service, Robert Frost and James Thurber, among many other artists. He was an avid reader, traveler, hiker, skier, beach bum, sailor, tennis player and cyclist. He was a deep thinker, humble, respectful of all and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Muffy; two sons Kirk (Kristen) and Ben (Lila); and daughter Chris Reyes (Hernan); stepchildren Will Hoyt (Dru), Molly Cashin (Steve) and Emily Blossom (Eric); as well as seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Conrad. He is deeply loved by his family and is missed terribly. A burial service will take place at the Wacousta Cemetery, 13471 Wacousta Road, Grand Ledge, MI on August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service is also planned for Albuquerque NM in September (details pending). Donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
