Obituary for MORA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday July 24, 2011

VIRGINIA R. Died peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011, her outsized heart and irrepressible spirit finally deciding to rejoin forces-for eternity this time- with her beloved husband of 57 years, the late Dr. Federico Mora. Ginny lived well and loved easily, she was happy spending quiet hours with Mozart, the Sunday Times, Jeopardy, her myriad cats, the occasional Main Lobster, and, in every season, Saturday afternoons getting blonde again. But more than anything, Ginny was about children - any child of any age - for whom she was simultaneously St. Francis, Mother Teresa, Confucius, and, of course, Ninny. To know her, as they say, was to love her. And to be one of her children is a blessing too wonderful for words. Ginny was born July 4, 1930, in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent nursery school through college years in Wellesley, Massachusetts, before her joining her life with Federico's. She had a lifelong love of music and served the Albuquerque music community for many years. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Krane and husband, Stephen; sisters-in-law, Angela Woodward and Cordelia Mooney and husband, Thomas; children, Fedrico Mora III, Clara Luz Mora and husband, Roger Nixon, Ana Maria Waller and husband, Marty, Claudia Mora and partner, Pete Maggiore, Juan Mora and wife, Lynette; grandchildren, Katharien Baker and husband Brandon, Stephen Pike, Nicholas Mora, Shaina Riciputi, William Cody Nixon, Eliana Riciputi, Joaquin Mora and Rico Antonio Mora; great-grandchildren, Alexander Pike and Ryan Baker; beloved friends, Ralph Berkowitz, Alma Martinez, and Zane Taichert; loving caregivers, Sylvia Cordova and Juanita Bower. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011, 4:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions to Chamber Music Albuquerque, P. O. Box 3343, Albuquerque, NM 87190-3343, www.cma-abq.org. FRENCH 1111 University Blvd. NE. (505) 843-6333
